I wrote a while ago about my comprehensive tech kit, and it’s been great. I’m always looking to reduce my carry size however, and when I saw Peak Design launched a new smaller version of the peak design tech pouch I couldn’t help but order it.
Much to my surprise, my whole carry from the regular sized tech pouch fits comfortably! It’s lacking a few of the extra dividers that were in the original, but overall it’s a much more compact carry for the gear I’d lug around with my Macbook.
That said, I did make a few adjustments to the loadout, as one does over time.
Removals:
1x Apple USB-C Digital AV Multimedia adapter
1x DLink 2.5gbe USB-C ethernet adapter
Adds:
Anker 555 USB-C Hub
I axed the DLink and Apple adapters in favor of the Anker 555 hub - It’s got more ports on it, though forgoes 2.5gbe. This is fine as I can drop two separate adapters for one.
The 555 also has another advantage of having a USB-C data port and an SD card reader directly on it - For this reason it makes for a solid iPad Pro companion. I can connect both my SD card and Samsung T5 to the iPad, and use the Files app to directly copy photos from the SD card to the SSD. Although my usual import to Lightroom is still going to be a thing, having extra copies of RAW files while internet is spotty seems like good practice.
Overall very happy with the smaller tech pouch - It fits a ton of stuff and has the same build quality as the larger version. For those who like Peak Design and are looking for something a bit on the smaller side, I can whole-heartedly recommend the small tech pouch.
